Spyglass Cholangioscopy

At Vedanta Superspeciality Center, we offer advanced Spyglass Cholangioscopy—a cutting-edge endoscopic technique used for direct visualization of the bile ducts. This minimally invasive procedure provides unmatched clarity and precision for diagnosing and treating complex biliary disorders that cannot be fully assessed using traditional ERCP alone.

The Spyglass system enables high-definition, real-time imaging of the biliary tree, allowing our gastroenterologists to perform targeted biopsies, stone removal, and other therapeutic interventions with enhanced accuracy and safety.

What Conditions Can Spyglass Cholangioscopy Help Diagnose and Treat?

  • Unexplained biliary strictures or obstructions
  • Evaluation of suspected bile duct tumors or cholangiocarcinoma
  • Difficult-to-remove bile duct stones
  • Post-liver transplant biliary complications
  • Recurrent pancreatitis linked to ductal abnormalities
  • Inconclusive imaging findings in the biliary system

How is Spyglass Cholangioscopy Performed?

The procedure is typically done during an ERCP. A slim, fiber-optic cholangioscope is passed through the working channel of the endoscope into the bile duct. The Spyglass system provides a magnified view, enabling physicians to directly inspect the duct lining, obtain precise biopsies, and perform laser or electrohydraulic lithotripsy for large stone fragmentation and removal.
